Advice about performing a monologue?

i was hoping for advice about monologues, such as how to chose one for an audition, things to avoid doing when performing one and things to be sure to do when performing them. anything you can think to tell me involving monologues would be much appreciatedAdvice about performing a monologue?
Select a role that is logical that you would play. the monologue should be a surprise to the auditiors, who say,';I didn't expect that!'; And should end with a 'hook' that makes them wish they could see more. Be sure not to stand still unless the type of monologue you're doing would call for it. Don't mess with your hands; for me the most uncomfortable thing was trying to figure out what to do with my hands when I didn't need to use them. It's best to video-tape yourself doing it so that you can catch on to things that you don't realize you're doing (like swaying or fiddling with hands).

As far as choosing one to perform, find one that you like and can connect with. Why slave over painting an apple when you'd love painting a tree? Same type of thing with monologues.
a huget thing, dont over act, then second you should think that the tipe of people that are going to be there might not like it so you might try to match most of their personalities so most of them will like it but if you dont know then just do youre best and dont get nervious. srr for spelling = (

good luck!
