I need to lose weight fast and be healthy about it. If anyone has any advice or tips, it'd be nice.?

My boyfriend and I are going on a cruise and I would like to be slender and toned if we're going to the Cayman Islands. I would just like to look my best.

Im 5'7'; and 155 lbs. I would like to be 130lbs.I need to lose weight fast and be healthy about it. If anyone has any advice or tips, it'd be nice.?
Watch your fat intake. Each fat gram contains 9 calories so by reading the total calories on a food and knowing the quantity of fat, you can estimate the % of fat, which should in no way exceed 30% of the food.I need to lose weight fast and be healthy about it. If anyone has any advice or tips, it'd be nice.?
Carry parsley with you. Parsley is an excellent thing to munch on in between meals. Not just is it good for you in terms of vitamins, but it is also a perfect way of making your breath fresher.
CI is so full of oold wrinkled people that you will look great as you are
well, i m 6'1 (male) now 198lbs, i used to weigh 230 at the beiginning of June. my advice. Eat something light for breakfast, Have a light sandwitch for lunch, and KEY wait 30 mins before you drink. If you drink while you eat ure gonna make ure stomach like get bigger and ure gonna gain weight. Have a regular dinner, again 30mins before drinking and right before you go to bed, have an apple or pear. Or somefruit salad, OR even a yougurt :) Dosent really take physical exercise to achive :)
Obesity has become a major health problem around the world. Many companies have brought diet pills, medicines, powders and weight-loss belts in the market. Though these products claim to aid weight-loss, the weight reduction is temporary. Besides, the pills and powders can adversely affect your health. Here we offer you some tips to reduce weight successfully, without any negative health effects.

1 Reduce fat intake:

2 Reduce intake of sugar:

3 Decrease alcohol consumption:

4 Stay away from processed, fast and junk foods since they are laden with fat and sugar.

5 Reduce quantity of food without going hungry:

6 Adopt regular eating habits:

7 Raise the amount of physical activity:

8 Learn a new hobby or interest:

9 Improve your metabolism by eating natural foods:

10 Control your appetite:
* Take one pound at a time

* Set Reachable Goals

* Stay off the scales

* Stay focused on being healthy, not thin

* Fat Free?

* Drink plenty of water

* Reward yourself

* Seek help if you need it

* Watch your portions

* Eat your food slowly
Try to get somebody to exercise along with you. But it should be somebody committed or else your interest might dwindle. This is indeed an excellent idea. One of the advantages of getting a committed person t exercise with you is that it keeps you going. There may be days when you feel just too lazy to crawl out of bed in the mornings. On such days, the knowledge that some body is waiting for you is enough to slide out of bed. Another advantage is that you can discuss your progress and fears with another person and be a sympathetic listener to the other person as well. This is a fine way of getting motivated your self.
If you want to lose some weight fast, this can help you!

My wife lost over 60 pounds last year through eating the right things. She has an extremely bad back and is unable to exercise at all. All of the weight she lost was through proper dieting alone.

I had her feed me according to the same diet and I lost 30 pounds in about 16 weeks, but I also exercised.

My wife did it through a diet center that she paid quite a bit of money to. Of course, she got supplements and stuff through them that I couldn't get.
When you do notice a change, reward yourself. When I say reward I do not mean go for some goodies like chocolates or sweets. Maybe you could go for a movie or buy yourself something like a new dress or a trinket. This is something that can keep you going. It is a good idea to save on the money that you wanted to spend on ice creams and chocolates and then treat your self to something more substantial.

Please advice me about me and my boyfriend?

Me and my BOYFRIEND.?

I talk to my boyfriend everyday on the phone. and I really really like him, except for the 2 weeks that we have been dating, ive seen him only once, not because dont wanna see each other but because its so hard to! and i get so sad when i cant see him.

any advice for our relationship? Please advice me about me and my boyfriend?
It sounds like your boyfriend and you communicate really well. But its really hard to date someone that you barely see.

I would plan some get-togethers to see him.

Maybe after school you could ask your friends to go to McDonalds or something and invite your boyfriend along to.

This will give an oppurtunity to talk and flirt.

Find out what activities he does and join in them ((If they are co-ed of course!)) so you guys can spend time together!

Good Luck =)

What is ventricular fibulation, and any advice about it?

Ventricular Fibrillation

What is ventricular fibrillation?

The heart beats when electrical signals move through it. Ventricular fibrillation (ven-TRIK'u-ler fib';rih-LA'shun) (';V fib';) is a condition in which the heart's electrical activity becomes disordered. When this happens, the heart's lower (pumping) chambers contract in a rapid, unsynchronized way. (The ventricles ';flutter'; rather than beat.) The heart pumps little or no blood.

AHA Scientific Position

Ventricular fibrillation is very serious. Collapse and sudden cardiac death will follow in minutes unless medical help is provided immediately. If treated in time, V fib and ventricular tachycardia (ven-TRIK'u-ler tak';eh-KAR'de-ah) (extremely rapid heartbeat) can be converted into normal rhythm. This requires shocking the heart with a device called a defibrillator (de-FIB'rih-la-tor).

Today one effective way to correct life-threatening rhythms is by using an electronic device called an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator. This device shocks the heart to normalize the heartbeat if the heart's own electrical signals become disordered.

My advice is NOT to have one if at all possible. What is ventricular fibulation, and any advice about it?
a true story ---

I'm an EEG tech, but many labs run a strip of EKG at the bottom.

I was running an EEG on a young lady for migraine headaches in an out-patient lab when suddenly she went into V-tach then out then in off and on for the 30 min. study. As I was cleaning her up (and sending for her doctor) I asked if she ever became dizzy - she said that she had forgotten to tell the doctor about these spells; that she had passed out in front of her class, and did I think she had a problem?

She had a pace-maker the next morning.

ADVICE FOR YOU - get a pacemeker/defib unit NOWWhat is ventricular fibulation, and any advice about it?
Ventricular fibulation is a very serious disorder of the heart, in which the electrical properties of the heart almost completely lose their natural rhythm. This causes the chambers of the heart to pump in an irregular and unsynchronized manner. The result of ventricular fibulations is that the heart essentially ';treads water'; and fails to pump any blood. The lower chambers of the heart also tend to beat quicker than normal, which exacerbates the problem since it is out of sync.
VF is when your heart goes into a very fast irregular rhythm, going so fast that it is virtually unable to pump any blood around. It makes you black out and if you are not defibrillated out of it you would die within a few minutes.

Bad news.
Ventricular Fibrillation is a very serious issue. You can die from it. How old is the patient that has this? I'm assuming that they have been put on certain medications (such as Amiodarone) for it? Maybe even an AICD (auto internal cardioverter defibrillator)? Make sure they are in the hands of a good cardiologist.

  • I need advice about my 4 year old son?

He is not being good at all!! I dont know what is wrong I just need help. He is acting out in a very bad way. Screaming, crying, saying things that he shouldnt, cant sit still, acts with out thinking. Like my gosh he has been peeing in his closet. What an I do. I have tried eerything. What could this be. They will not tell me if it is adhd because he is too young. So what is it? I need helpI need advice about my 4 year old son?
Okay first off despite popular opinion I do not think that spanking will resolve anything with your son. My son is also four years old, and he went through a little phase as well, minus the peeing, but all children are different. My advice is to sit down with him one on one and have a talk with him. I wouldn't do it after an outburst though. But sit him down and ask him what is going on. He may be having some issues with other things that are going on around him, and you haven't noticed, mine got upset because I moved the clock for pete's sake. If you can sit him down and have a talk with him and maybe explain that you and he both know that this behaviour is unacceptable, that may make a difference. If you don't already do this maybe you can schedule some special you and him time everyday, depending on your schedule. To me it sounds like he is looking for some attention from you, but he is just going about it in the wrong way. The peeing in the closet should be his job to clean up, with you supervising, of course, and let him understand that this is not right. I think that all children go through a spot where they need to see just how far they can go, and we need to step in and give them their boundaries. I wish you all the best of luck, and just try a heart to heart with him.I need advice about my 4 year old son?
This might sound crazy, but let it go for a little while. I think both of you need a breather.

And I hate to say this, but I think bad behavior comes from bad parenting. It's obvious you're not being firm enough with him if he's not listening at all. You need to figure out a better way to discipline him.

And call me old fashioned, but a swat on the hind end never did anyone any harm.
My four year old never went through the terrible twos, he was an angel at three, then when he hit four, I realized that ';four'; was a four letter 'f' word. It was awful. I stuck to the stuff that was important to me, and got a lot of headaches. He's exploring his boundaries and hopefully he'll outgrow it in a few months. Its a long few months, though.
Spank his little ***! Show him who's the boss and parent. My son use to be like that until he knew he cant do what he wants. He is 9 now...and fears that when i know he does something wrong he starts crying before i spank him.

Now spank him out of love and not in anger. There is a difference. You must put that staple in parenting.

I would spank my children and know that they will be good citizens in the future rather than not spanking them and they become criminals.
its just a phase so dont worry he will be fine in a week or 2
If you let your son keep acting the way he does he will be accustomed to doing the same mischief, so it better to discipline him and keep him from doing anything that would be considered wrong for about a week worths of time
The boy may need some attention. If that is so, you can encourage good behaviour by praising him when he is good. Sometimes, you can anticipate. E.g. When he is drinking, tell him to pee in the toilet later. Tell him also If he does the right thing, he will get *___________ (insert his favourite treat) for being a good boy. Remind him every 10minutes to make sure he does the right thing. You can even bring him to the toilet to encourage him to pee. Reward him anyway. So he can associate rewards with right behaviour.

Do the same for all his bad behaviour. Don't attack all at the same time. Start with pee first. Once he can pee correctly. Then you target the next problem.

Or you can list his behaviour in priority of seriousness. Start with the one you think will be easier for him to understand and change.

Control your anger and do not give him attention when he does bad. Reason with him. Initially you may find it pointless as he would continue his bad behaviour. Stay calm and firm and keep at what you set out to do repeatedly. The boy will understand after a while. Kids need repeatings to remember.

Since they say he is too young to be ascertain as ADHD, you can consider sending him to a preschool so he can learn some social behaviour by observing other kids.

    Good luck!
Spank him! It's legal and sit his butt in the time out chair let him know you are NOT playing around.

Be assertive and make eye contact.
You need to take a firmer hand and let him know it is not ok to pee in his closet and that big boys go in the toilet. as far as the other stuff he just may want more positive attention from you. take time that you schedule with him every day to play and have fun.that should show some results and better behavior.hope i helped!
Be firm with him and make him respect you. You are the boss....not him. If he pees in his closet....than make him clean it up! (you do the better cleaning when he isn't around to watch you, though).

When he says things he shouldn't say, explain to him why we don't say those things. Also tell him that if he says it again...he will be punished. FOLLOW THROUGH WITH YOUR PUNISHMENT. That is the most important part of all.

I have a 4 year old son, too. And at this age, they want to make their own decisions. That is fine, as long as it doesn't break any of my rules. If it does, he decision is void. Period, end of story. I tell him that this is life and he will have to get over it. Maybe I am hard on him sometimes, but for the most part, he is a wonderful child and I tell him that everyday.....I make sure to add that I always love him, even when he is bad.
Here are a couple of thoughts:

    - Bad behaviour is often the result of frustration. Try to watch his body language for early signs of frustration and try to intervene before he gets too far. Kids have so many emotions and sometimes don't have the words to say them.

-Be sure that he has a good predictable schedule and knows what to expect. When kids have a sense of disorder or chaos around, they mimic it. Try to keep things as low key as possible. If there has been a big change in his life recently, this can be the cause of all this acting out.

    - He needs to feel a sense of control. Give him as many choices a possible. Does he was Cheerios or Coco puffs for breakfast? Give him as many choices as possible.

-Get him involved! If you are cleaning house, find fun ways he can help you. if you are at the store, turn it into a hunt and let him help you find the things you need

-Reward good behavior and do not reinforce bad. If he has helped you at the store, be sure to tell him how much it helped you! If he acted up, put an immediate stop to it. Talk to him using as few words as possible. The more words, the less likely he will follow what you are saying./

-Proper punishments when he does act out. Time out gets old and eventually stops working. Try to make a punishment that will teach him something. If you told him to clean up his toys and he has , instead taken them all out, make him clean them up. If he is peeing in the closet, give him a sponge and soap and water and he can clean it up and you can talk to him about why he should not pee in the closet.

Just a few things that may help. If you don't get results with these tips, try calling his doctor for advice. He doesn't have to have a diagnosis of ADHD to need a little guidance and pediatricians are great for that.

    Good luck!

Need some advice about my pregnant hamster.....?

Anyone know anything about hamsters? I'm almost 99% sure she's pregnant. I've read that they only are pregnant for 16 days, which would make tonight the night she has her litter. Everytime I look in on her, she's just biting the bars on her cage--no babies. I was told they usually give birth at night but so far nothing. Anyone have any experience with this before?Need some advice about my pregnant hamster.....?
Well, does she REALLY look pregnant ?

My female before giving birth ran in her wheel, chewed like mad on her bars, and stuffed her cheeks full of bedding and nesting material.

Just leave her be, in the morning coax her out of her nest with a treat and use an unopened pen to pry the nest open to check for pups.

Some females are pregnant longer, my very first breeding female (who started my breeding and I have kept her lineage alive) was pregnant for 21 days and gave birth to 16 pups.

If you have any specific quesions you can either IM me or send me an e-mail and I will be happy to help you !Need some advice about my pregnant hamster.....?
i think if she is about to give birth than just leave her alone, she will have her babies and everything should be fine. when the babies come don't touch then leave them alone if you mess with them the mother may reject them and even eat them. so just leave her alone and go to sleep you may wake up to baby hamsters, or not either way you cant really do anything so just relax, good luck :)
yes i had a hamster that was pregnent.

well you just need to be patient becauyse

she will do her thing, u need to have her

eat very healthy and while her pregnancy

you can give her warm milk.

    hope i helped :]
Maybe it is having twin's,making it longer to give birth. She might not even be pregnat, she could be given a poor diet.
well if she is bigger than usual than most likely she's pregnant but don't pick up the babies for about a week or she will eat it.
like all mammals they can come either early or late just think your hamster as a human if shes late no worries but if she does not come into labour by one week fell around her stomach gently and see if you can feel anything this would be the baby hamsters .

Need some advice about this confusing guy

I know this is a little long but plz read it. I know this guy who hangs with one of my friends and has classes with me in college. He is pretty much of a jerk. He's one of those serious,';I know everything';, and has a dark outlook on things, kind of guy. We dont get along all too well since we argue whenever we all hang out. But recently, I have a bf now and now Aiden (his name btw) is being even more mean to me. Usually if he happens to see me he'll say his smart aleck crap but now since I have a bf he sometimes gives me this really mean look and says NOTHING to me like I hurt him :/ My friends say he likes me but that cant be possible since he ';strongly dislikes'; my ';Defiant and mouthy'; personality, could it?Need some advice about this confusing guy
Sounds like he's one of those 'assholey' guys that act like *** holes, but are secretly in love with you. Weird, how some guys act, but I think your friends are correct!Need some advice about this confusing guy
I would say that he does like you, maybe you should address it with him?
he is being very childish. i would just not talk to him

Need quick advice about mums cancer and pain?

My mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last halloween. she was given 4 months

we dont have any nurses out or anything when they call to see how shes doing she says she is fine

over the last few days her back has got very sore

is this because of her cancer and should i get a doctor out to the house or an ambulance or what/?

    its just me and her

im 16 and i have school tomorrow so i want to know what to do TODAY

thanksNeed quick advice about mums cancer and pain?
Oh Sweetheart, I am so incredibly sorry, My mom passed away last Wednesday of pancreatic cancer. I know how scared you are. I really suggest that you get some help. YOU cannot do this alone. there has to be some hospice or cancer support group where you live. Call them and tell them whats going on. I think you may have to miss school and be your moms help today. Good luck to you, be brave and I wish I could help you myself!

Also if you can't find help, take her to the hospital, they will help you.Need quick advice about mums cancer and pain?
you have lived with your mum long enough to know if her pain level has changed, and if you feel that it has, you need to contact her care providers asap Pancreatic cancer is very painful and from what you wrote, she could be nearing the end if she was given 4 months in October. You did not mention what type of pain medication she is on, but surely she is on something. You have to be her advocate, and take charge if she needs something changed. If she is spending a lot of time in bed on her back, she could also be developing a pressure sore which will need attention. Call somebody, call the ones who call to see how she is doing and tell them that something has changed and you need more support
Granny's advice is very good advice. Call her oncologist or home health nurse and let them know about the pain, Tell them approximately when it started and how severe you think it may be. Insist that the source be investigated at once. It sounds like you have been appointed as your Mum's primary care provider, too much stress and responsibility for you to bear alone. But if that is how it has to be, then so be it, but you are going to have to think like the adult in this situation. You call the shots, you are the 'PIT BULL';, her advocate. She is in pain and you want help for her NOW! No one should have to suffer pain particularly in her case. And she may say not to call but this is one of those times that you will need to go over her head and do it anyhow. If you can't reach her doctor or home health nurse, try calling your local hospital ER nurse. They can either tell you to bring her right in, they can send a squad for assistance or transport if necessary. But make the call.

I need advice about my babys dad?

Im fifteen and im eight months pregnant back in december i found out that my childs father in really 31 years of age. he keeps calling from jail and i do not want to talk to him.I told the detective and he said he would stop him from calling but he hasent what should i do. I do not want him in my or my childs life and im getting to far along to be stressing over things like this. Where is our goverments heads at????I need advice about my babys dad?
This joker belongs in prison... You were 15 at the time and you were not of the age of consent... This guy needs to be charged with statutory rape of a child and locked up in prison for a few years... The DA should file these charges automatically without you having to file them because of your age... This is the way I understand TN Law... Other states are similar... You need to talk with an attorney and find out what the laws of your state are...

As far as him calling you from jail, you can file for an order of protection (no contact order) through the courts... I would also suggest that you have included in the order, that the jail he is in, notify you before hand if he is to be released so you can find a safe place to go... I'm not trying to scare you but just give you some useful information from a former corrections officer to try to help you out...

Also, you can check with the jail where he is housed and see if they have the type of phone system that allows phone number blocking... They may be able to add your number to a database that won't allow your number to be called... Some facilities have systems like this... When he calls you is the call charged to your bill and do you have to accept the call?

You can also change your home phone number and make sure that it is unlisted and not available through directory assistance either...

I used to work in corrections and every call that an inmate made from my facility was preceded by an operators message stating that the call was from an inmate at the **** correctional facility... Would you like to accept the call? You can then decline the call and the inmate will be disconnected...

If you can get the no contact order, then you can complain to the court every time he attempts to call you and they will file contempt of court charges against him...

If you would like to discuss your problems through regular email, feel free to email me at the address below and i'll try to help you out with other ideas to keep this joker bottled up and out of your life...

Good luck honey... Keep your eyes open, and be safe!I need advice about my babys dad?
That is a sick situation WHERE IS YOUR HEAD???

Dont charge him like everyone is saying YOU WERE WILLING RIGHT? It would be wrong to charge him if your parents or someone else does it its diffrent but not you. Also the age of consent in the majority if states is 16.
You are in a tough situation, don't let these people get you down. If you say you didn't know the age of the guy until later, then that's not your fault, and it is called statutory rape. Regardless if you're too young to have sex and to be a mom, that's all crossed now. The most important thing is to think about your safety. Try to get full custody. The guy's in jail now and he may have a say in how this baby will be raised. I had a situation as well where I dated a guy who went to jail and continuously harassed me through collect calls. Just don't accept the collect calls and you can even try to change your number. Our government is trying the best they can to make sure that everyone's safe. At least he's in jail for whatever he did. Just the child part is the riskiest part, because you can't deny your child the right to know his/her father, only unless you can prove that he's not safe for the kid.
Our government cannot be responsible for every person. You need to make a statement to the police department that you were raped (you cannot have consentual sex under the age of 18 in most states). Then you also need to get an order of protection that this man cannot go near you or call you. His phone calls to you will become part of his record. Finally you need to figure out what you're going to do with the baby. If you keep the baby, you will have a continual and constant contact the baby's father unless he renounces paternity.
you need to get a restraining order against him.
You picked him so deal with it. You can't unring that bell. What does the government have to do with your private life or any of this?
Thats a tuff situation. He is the dad and has right to his kid but your only fifteen and he should be in jail for that because your a kid also! I will just call a lawyer! See what they say!
ok... if you didnt have a problem with the guy before you knew he was 31... then what is the problem...? and how do you mistake somebody being younger than 31... seriously... you had sex with him... now you have to deal with it... you delt the cards... so play your hand! Statatory rape is crap... at 15 you should be able to decide who you want to sleep with... and you decided to sleep with a 31 year old... so he shouldn't even be in prision... besides.. how did you even get the chance to have sex at 15 let alone have sex with a 31 year old... where were your parents? they let you get into this situation... so i guess they'll have to help you get out of it!... good luck... i fell sorry for your baby having to grow up in this messed up situation... its called birth control, condems... learn how to use them!
he she be in prison for stagetory rape have you pressed charges
Well 16 or 31, he is still the babies dad. Unless you were raped (totally against your will and forced, not just because your underage) he should be in your babies life. When he gets out of jail he can help with child support. Yeah hes old and you feel dirty or whatever, but still- you had sex with him, right? At least allow him to pay child support! And how fair is it to your child to grow up without a daddy just because you think hes old. (this is all if you didnt get forcefully raped)
Change your number, but how are you out sleeping with someone and you don't know how old they are? What else don't you know about this guy? The detective could care less about him calling you or trying to get him to stop. You are right about being to far pregnant and stressing about this. Don't worry about him just take care of you and the baby you are about to have.

I need advice about kissing? I know i must be retarded right?

Well, me and my boyfriend have been together a while, and his friend which is like my best friend said that Hayden said whenever we went somewhere again he was going to kiss me. Well, I have never kissed anyone before I am thirteen but, I really need some advice if you would help. Please make appropriate for my age!

    Thanks,

Morgan =) I need advice about kissing? I know i must be retarded right?
Hi! do you know what? if you have a boyfriend is because you accepted him as your boyfriend, it's to say, you don't want him like a simple friend, so, why does a man want a girlfriend if he can't kiss her? I know you're 13 but you should kiss him or at least give him a simple kiss with your lips, just with your lips don't use your tongue, because if you don't give him a kiss, he could look for another girl and that girl is gonna kiss him and you will feel so ad and maybe will regret to no have kissed him when he wanted. try what I'm telling you, or maybe talk to him before you kiss him, tell him you are not kissed anyone before and he must teach you haw to kiss. don't worry, a kiss is the most beautiful expression in the world. after that, you'll remember me, kiss him, don't worry about anything I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it.

Take Care and God Bless you

Sorry for my English I need advice about kissing? I know i must be retarded right?
Just go with the flow. I know that sounds like a dumb answer, but that's all a person say.

Yes, you will be nervous, but that's okay!

    Everything will be fine!

Just remember to close your eyes. Haha :)

    Good luck
honey dont kiss anybody unless you are really sure about it, be careful, it sounds dumb, because people just think its just a kiss, but really you dont get another first kiss, and if you are just going to kiss him because thats what you think you are supposed to do then really dont do it, i had a few boyfriends before i actually kissed a guy, and it was the worst first kiss i could have ever had, the guy used me and dumped me the very next day, i wish i could do it over again and just now kiss him, it is your first make sure that your sure you want to do it. your only thirteen for heaven sakes, and then after you kiss him, it wont be as special anymore, because you will never get a first kiss again, honey just dont do it take my advice wait till you get a little older and make sure that your sure that you want a specific guy to be your first kiss, it may not seem like a big deal, but you never get another first kiss so make sure its worth it.
    you dont really need advice.

when i was 13 i got my first kiss and i was really nervous because i was scared that i would be bad but i was good.

when you kiss you just know what to do your body

will just kinda take over and do what ever it needs

  • Hi, I get braces in three days. Anyone that has braces I need your advice about whats go happen.Do it hurt?

Ok, yes, your mouth will be a little sore for a few days, just take nyquill, or some other pain releiver, and the soreness will go away. You wont be able to eat popcorn, or foods of that nature since they will get stuck in your gums, no gum or chips either. This is all I know, my sister was the ones with braces, not me, I hope this helped though.Hi, I get braces in three days. Anyone that has braces I need your advice about whats go happen.Do it hurt?
Yes, it does kind of hurt. Not getting them on, though that's a little uncomfortable. But after, you'll be sore, and you might not be able to eat certain foods for a couple days (even eating rice hurt me! I stuck to soup, yogurt, and other liquidy foods.) Before you get them put on, and for as long as you need, take a pain reliever like Advil every couple of hours. The wires may also poke into the side of your mouth towards the back a little; the doctor will probably give you some wax that you can put on the ends--do it.

You may also just have a weird feeling in your mouth, since it's basically having a foreign object there. But in a couple days you'll feel more comforable, and after a couple weeks you won't even notice they're there.

You will have to go back to get them tightened periodically, and it does hurt a little after they get tightened, but not as badly as at first.

Just as a side note, the doctor will give you a list of things you shouldn't eat, like gum, taffy, Starburst candies, and popcorn. Listen to him. If you eat these things, it is highly likely that you will break your braces. Not only is this uncomfortable, it also increases the time you will have to have them on.

It sounds bad, but trust me--it's SO worth it to have beautiful teethHi, I get braces in three days. Anyone that has braces I need your advice about whats go happen.Do it hurt?
Putting them on doesnt hurt a bit; until they put the wire on. The wire puts pressure on ur teeth so they go into where they r supposed to be. You will feel pain the most when you are eating, so eat soft stuff for the first few days and the same after you get them adjusted. And when they put the brackets (the part that is ';colored';), they put a lot of cotton rolls in your mouth. I really dont know why but yeah they do that. Honestly, i say getting them adjusted after the first month with braces will hurt the most. Then you MIGHT get used to it every month. So, to reduce the pain, just take a tylenol or some pain reliever. I take tylenol and it works great; but it will still hurt when you eat.
Well their going to make sure that their's no saliva in your mouth and suck it all out. Then glue the brackets to your teeth and put special covering things on your back teeth, like the wisdoms. They'll ask you what color you'ld like it to be. I always ask for clear. Then theyy'll put a wire through your teeth and tighten it. The day you get your braces on they shouldn't hurt a lot. They should be a little tense. The next day, though they will hurt and you need to only eat soft foods, no hard foods or it will make your gums feel so tender. This sensitivity can last for about 4 days. Your teeth will feel really loose, like their going to fall out. .Each time you get them tightened, the day after they'll be sore. But, in the end, it is all worth it. Your teeth will be perfect and you'll have a great smile. People usually have braces for atleast a year. Remember to brush and take good care of your braces. I promise you one day you'll be so happy that you got braces.
It doesn't hurt when they put them on. It will be a little sore after 4-6 hours so take a painkiller right after you get your braces so it doesn't hurt. Well here is the information you need to know (check out the websites it will help).

    1. They put some glue stuff on your teeth.

I have braces yes they hurt when they go on, there not so painful after a few weeks but then you have to get them tightend witch makes them hurt again also the metal will more then likely rub against the side of your mouth makeing it all cut and hurt but you get over it and its worth it.
Its gonna hurt for the fist week but ul get used to it. Also every 3 months ul go for tightening - after every of those appointments it will be sore for about 2 days. But ul be taking painkillers so the soreness is minor
Braces do hurt when you first get them on. It could take about four or five days to get used to them. After all they feel normal, until you go get them tightned. When you tighten them they hurt and you cant eat for the rest of the day. (ask for late appt)
It depends-for some people it hurts like heck. For me, it was just uncomfortable and annoying. I'd suggest eating only soft foods for a few days (bread, soup, jello, ice cream...) until you're used to the braces.

Me and this guy were mutually interested in each other. He has given me advice about work and seems to be?

encouraging me about stuff. Do you think I should take his advice?Me and this guy were mutually interested in each other. He has given me advice about work and seems to be?
yea, if you like the advice

could you answer my question please

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>Me and this guy were mutually interested in each other. He has given me advice about work and seems to be?
    Beware of advisers .
if it's good advice then, yes. Don't just take it cos you're both interested in each other.
why shouldnt you? hes also a friend. so if a friend gives you advice and you trust them. and agree. then you take it.
depends what the advice is...but if hes a nice guy i'm sure he has only the best intentions. in this case...trust him!
Use your own perfectly good brain. A guy who likes you wants to impress you...and he may have exaggerated or understated. Trust what YOU see and what YOU do. Go for it.

I am about to start a week's vacation, can't afford to do anything, and apt. is mess. Advice?

I've procrastinated so long cleaning it up, but I hate to spend my vacation doing that, but I'm sick of the mess! Any good tips on cleaning it up (loads of laundry to do, child's room very messy, think I';m gonna have to clean that up myself). I want to relax, but can't take the mess anymore. Thanks!I am about to start a week's vacation, can't afford to do anything, and apt. is mess. Advice?
Set a plan and stick to it. Break the cleaning into segments, one for each day you have off (try to leave the last two as totally free). Start EARLY in the day. Dedicate a certain amount of time to really focusing on getting that part done. Then, treat yourself the rest of the day doing anything fun you can and totally forget about the cleaning. Reward yourself each day. Then, if you left the last two days free, you will be able to relax more than you have in a VERY long time and you will be proud of yourself too!

Remember ';Inch by inch, its a cinch. Yard by yard, its VERY hard';. Do a little every day and leave time to enjoy it at the end.

Good luck!I am about to start a week's vacation, can't afford to do anything, and apt. is mess. Advice?
have a maid come in to do a cleaning one day... and do the laundry at night while watching tv...

If not - put time limits on chores and you'd be surprised how much you accomplish. ie: set an hour to get the rooms on the first floor done.... etc. you'll be done in no time.. and not wasting a whole vacation on it.
And just think how great you will feel when it's clean again!
    have your kids clean up
Well to take a risk and sound like a nagging mother...get off your butt and clean it up...if you get into it and dont stop it shouldnt take more than one day of your time...

Your kids help make the mess put them to work cleaning up after themselves...

Just think...the time it took you to post your post about it, you could have had a load of washing on and given instructions to the kids...
Spend the first two or three days busting your hump cleaning. I bet if you got really serious you could get it done in a day and a half. Then the next part of your vacation you can relax and do whatever you want because your house will be clean. I like rearranging furniture, I always keep the house clean longer.
Since the Apt. is stressing you, but you still need that week-long vacation to relax, why not do a little bit of both?

Spend 2 or three hours every day cleaning/organizing, then go to the park, watch a movie, read a good book, etc. Go to your public library, where you can take out a video/dvd for a dollar. Go to yard sales or bazaars. Look in your local newspaper for local events. Learn a new craft or hobby. Make holiday presents so you don't have to spend a lot of money...

As for the apartment, do ONE TASK a day.

    1. Throw away anything that you won't use or that is broken, etc.

    2. Donate anything that is too good to throw away.

    3. Take everything out of your kitchen cabinets. How long has that box of flavored rice been in there? Use it or toss it.

You get the idea. Point is to not overwhelm yourself. So what if you don't get it all done in a week? Isn't it better than before? Isn't this supposed to be your R%26amp;R time?

Whenever I have in-home vaca time, I use my crock pot so I don't have to cook on top of everything else.

    Good luck!!
List what needs to be done, Allot 3 hrs each day to the listed jobs, only do 1 at a time, ,,,,,,, A must do at the start of each day is sleep in. Some time during the day,,,,,,, go for a walk (if possible)

go to the theatre ,, or movies or even spend an hour in your local bar,,,,,,,,,,,,,,If your living in a large city there must be somewhere you haven't been to so explore walking and looking is cheap ,,,,,make your day different to your ordinary working day.
Okay i've been there and want you to know it happens to everyone.Just think i could be at your door tomorrow afternoon to take you and the kids on a fun filled vacation and leave my cleaning staff behind at your place to do the laundry, clean ,paint replace carpets while we are away, now does that make you feel better.. I wish i could do that for you and i dont even know you becuase i'm the same way so we will have to daydream, best wishes !!
Just budget your time, spend some time cleaning, some time relaxing. Take plenty of breaks, too.
Tackle one room a day. And don't let it get so bad next time. It is easier to stay on top of a house.
Take the 1st day to clean, really won't take that long. I have 4 kids and do it. Understand not wanting to clean, but once you do it vacation will go tremendously better and you can relax the rest of the time. Good Luck!
If you really put yourself into cleaning you can be done in 1 - 2 days no more no less than you can relax in a nice clean house

I need any and all advice about my puppy.?

We just got her, she is 11 wk old yellow lab. We have an old dog that is 12 human yrs he is a sheltie. I want to make the transistion comfy for the old man. Also any other puppy advice would be good. It has been so long since I had to train a puppy! My old man dog does not seem as jealous as I thought he would be, he actually acts younger because they play together. He has had a really bad yr. His hip dysplasia has gotten worse and he was attacked by a german shepard. The vet was suprised that he made it. He has healed wonderfully. We wanted to get a pup because we are not sure how much longer Max will be w/ us. We are hoping that the pup will learn by example, has anyone had that happen? We bought Puppy Training For Dummies, which is what we used on Max back when he was a pup. I just love max so much, he is the most well behaved, loving, and loyal dog I ever could have wanted. I only hope our puppy can be as special as he is. Thank you, LisaI need any and all advice about my puppy.?
you brought up max well, so im sure youll be fine with your new pup - labs are one of the easiest dogs to train if you do it consistently like you are supposed to.

one thing though, if max has hip dysplasia, be careful about how much and how rough he plays with the pup - he could be quite sore later in the day. If he does get sore on a regular basis, you can get safe anti-inflammatories from your vet to help ease the problem.

also as max gets older and sorer and the pup still wants to play, you might have to seperate them on occasion so he can get some rest. He will also have less patience for the pup.

.I need any and all advice about my puppy.?
we just got a lab puppy also. and we have a older dog too. out lab was soo hard to train at fisrt. and now if he dosnt have a bone or toy he chews up EVERYTHING. but he has learned to get us when he wants out and he brings his dish to us when he wants food. wich he learned from our older dog. so make sure he has plenty of toys and stuff. and im sure he will learn from the older dog. good luck! i love labs!
if it worked on Max it will work on the new pup. Lab's are not hard dogs to train, they love to learn so you might even be able to teach the new pup more then the book wil offer.

    Good luck!
I don't think your other dog will be jealous. He will, as you noticed, be acting younger. And in a way he will be a teacher for your puppy. Coz your puppy will try and copy him in a lot of things. So, this is a good thing since you said that your dog is wonderful, well behaved, and loyal.

    I hope I helped a little
I have in my own experience gotten a puppy who did indeed learn from my older dog. The puppy even took on a little of my old dogs personality. Granted, she is defiantly different, but she got a lot of great behaviors from my other dog. Just show your new puppy lots of love and make it listen.
sometimes the old dog needs a little time and sp!ce to himself and can get annoyed with the young pup bouncing all over him all the time.

help him out by creating a quiet space in your home that the young fella can't get to him, such as a fifferent room with the door shut, or a child safety gate between two rooms!
Max might make a good infulence on the new puppy, but keep in mind that all dogs have their own personalities. Good luck!
sounds like the transition went well if they are playing together, yes puppies do learn by example, if possible let them out together or walk together and maybe some of the good things will rub off on the pup. Good Luck!

36 weeks pregnant and worried about a weird discharge, any advice?

This is my first time asking a question but thought id try it. For just the past two days (no more) when going to the bathroom and wiping i find a slimy discharge on the paper. It has no odor and almost completely clear. Anyone have any idea what it could be?36 weeks pregnant and worried about a weird discharge, any advice?
Oh mommy it sounds like ur losing your mucus plug...means baby's getting ready. W/ my son i lost mine around 36 weeks and he decided he still didn't wanna come out lol he was a 42 weeker i think my doctor hated me LOL. or like seeing me miserabe it was HOT july. NE WAY.

If its just a little bit its probably just pieces there will be more than likely this big glope in the toilet or the paper so dont be alarmed when u see it.. CONGRATS!!36 weeks pregnant and worried about a weird discharge, any advice?
I had that too. My dr. told me that was completely normal and could be the mucus plug that surrounds the cervix. But, since we are not your DR. then you should at least call into yours and just report what you found and see what they say. No question is a Dumb question to your DR. at this time. Take care and congrats to you on your new baby.
It sound like your baby is on its way.

It is common it is called a mucus plug.

At 36 weeks you are already 9 months pregnant if you work it out.

Dont worry nothing will happen immediatly but this may be a good time to pack your case for hospital if you have'nt already.

    Good Luck
I agree with all the other answers about it being a mucous plug, which usually is not a cause for alarm. Rather it is just another one of the fun things we find in our underwear as motherhood approaches.

When the same thing happened to me, my o.b. laughed when I told her it looked like someone blew their nose in my panties.
    Sounds like the mucus plug.
It sounds liek teh normal luekorrhea that woman get during pregnancy. i have had this since my fourth month. either that it is probably part of your mucus plug which is nothing to worry about:) good luck!
if it's something that you have never seen come from your body before, it's probably your mucus plug. mine looked like thick clear hair gel, if that helps.
Mention it to your Dr at your next visit...but you are far enough along that it could be your mucus plug coming out.
It could possibly be your mucus plug, if it is like egg white, maybe tinged with a little blood, then that is what it could be.

Do not be alarmed, but do phone your GP/Midwife, just to let them know and maybe go and get checked out.
Sounds like your mucus plug it has probably fallen out or is getting ready to which is a sign your bodys preparing for labor but don't get too excited it could still take a few weeks. Congratulations Mom and good luck!

So can somebody like help me? I need some advice about a guy?

Is it ok for a girl to ask a guy out or is a guy just suppose to ask a girl out?? I like this lifeguard at the pool where I live and everytime I go he like stars at me while im in my bathing suit when I go in the water. He hasnt talked to me but hes always watching me..Should I try and ask him to hang out sometime? I mean hes really hotSo can somebody like help me? I need some advice about a guy?
I say life is too short to sit around and wait. If he is not moving go for it. you could say something like hey do you want to catch a movie sometime? Or maybe say you want to grab a bite after work?So can somebody like help me? I need some advice about a guy?
There's nothing wrong with asking a guy out. But 1st thing's 1st, how about going up to him and start a conversation and see if you like him before asking him out.
ok well he MIGHT like you but dont get your hopes up....yet. You should look at him and smile a lot but DONT go up to him yet, he might just think your hot and wanna get in your pants!!!
there is no problem with a girl asking a guy. but you should REALLY TALK TO HIM FIRST! so you are suuure that he might like you! so that way you don't get your hopes up...

Need advice about shallow mount subwoofers!?

I have a 1987 chevy regular cab truck that I am putting a sound system in. I am thinking of using either rockford fosgate or kicker. 2 12 inch shallow mount subs. With either a 1000 watt kicker or rockford amp. Which is a better choice?? Will this sound system be loud and deep??Need advice about shallow mount subwoofers!?
I have 2 kicker 12 inch cvt shallow mounts in my reg. ford ranger. It bumps pretty good but goes for loudness not cleanness. The rockford fosgates go for cleanness. These setups are not made for spl or if you wanna be heard comin down the street. Also the box that kicker supplys their cvts with are bigger than rockfords so make sure you'll have enough room. and for kicker amps, they are known to blow up. If i could respend my money, id go for the rockford fosgates.

Need advice about dealing with the united states post office. help.?

We changed our address three weeks ago and have yet to receive any forwarding mail. We have called a bunch of times and they just say the same thing ';we dont know where your mail is'; and never give us a real answer. I'm worried we could have important info just sitting somewhere or its just lost. We have no idea what to do to get our mail and get some answers from these people. Any tips would be great.Need advice about dealing with the united states post office. help.?
turn in another change of address card. then mail your self a post card to old address and see how long it takes.

at our office it takes a couple of weeks to change . they have to deliver to old address, see the change return to main for them to change labels. then redeliver in system.

always better to contact all your contacts and give them a change of address too. then only the ones that missed the change have to go through the system twice.Need advice about dealing with the united states post office. help.?
Here's the deal. Your former local post office where you were getting mail delivered from is taking too long to send out the CFS which means forwarded mail. Now what you have to do is this. Contact your local Postal Inspection office and explain to them your situation and demand that they look into the matter. I bet you that this has happened not only to your but to many people..

However remember, Forwarded mail except package is one of the last free servcies along with blind printed matter for the and library mail which are still free services.
It takes something like 2 weeks before they actually start fowarding your mail.

But it never hurts to send another request to have them foward your mail.

You may also want to make a list of all your bills that you pay and contact them directly so you don't get behind and get charged any late penalties.
Why not stop at the post office and see if they are holding any mail. The previous answer about putting in another address change card is a good one too. Try to make sure you have notified everyone who sends you mail, such as banks, power companies, car loan company etc.
    deal with it
I understand what you're going through, we moved this summer and it's been a major hassle getting everything together! The other thing about the forwarding, is that they don't forward everything! It says so on the change of address form, but no one ever notices that. Make sure you contact anyone who would be sending you anything really important so that you're sure to get it. You really don't want to count on the post office to get it to you. The other thing is that you get forwarded mail about a week or even two later, so stuff can get old or expire in that time. Deadlines can be missed, etc, so call the people you get important mail from, and change your address with them, personally!

Does anyone have any advice or info about Parkinson?

Any info about treatments, future cures you may have heard of and things that can help people cope with it and get their quality of life back? Thank youDoes anyone have any advice or info about Parkinson?
Parkinson's disease is one of a larger group of neurological conditions called motor system disorders. In the normal brain, some nerve cells produce the chemical dopamine, which transmits signals within the brain to produce smooth movement of muscles. In Parkinson's patients, 80 percent or more of these dopamine-producing cells are damaged, dead, or otherwise degenerated. This causes the nerve cells to fire wildly, leaving patients unable to control their movements. Symptoms usually show up in one or more of four ways:

    * tremor, or trembling in hands, arms, legs, jaw, and face

    * rigidity, or stiffness of limbs and trunk

    * bradykinesia, or slowness of movement

    * postural instability or impaired balance and coordination.

Though full-blown Parkinson's can be crippling or disabling, experts say early symptoms of the disease may be so subtle and gradual that patients sometimes ignore them or attribute them to the effects of aging. At first, patients may feel overly tired, ';down in the dumps,'; or a little shaky. Their speech may become soft and they may become irritable for no reason. Movements may be stiff, unsteady, or unusually slow.

Although there is no cure for Parkinson's Disease, there are several measures that can be taken to improve a patient's quality of life. These measure include drug and surgical therapy. The other options available include making lifestyle changes, and employing physical and speech therapy.

One of the very first options suggested by doctors is medication. There are several drugs available. All with different roles.

    * Levodopa 鈥?The most commonly prescribed drug for Parkinson's Disease. Levodopa is a chemical that is able to cross the blood-brain barrier and be converted to dopamine in the brain. It is technically known as a 'precursor to dopamine.'

    * Segeline 鈥?It's an MAO-B inhibitor. MAO-B is an enzyme that degrades dopamine, therefore inhibiting this enzyme causes dopamine to have a longer lasting effect on the brain.

    * Anticholigernic medications 鈥?They block nerve impulses that control muscle movement. They also block acetylecholine, a neurotransmitter that helps to regulate muscle movement. Anticholigernics work best in patients who are over 70, where their main symptoms are tremors and drooling.

There are several surgical options available, these include:

    * Pallidotomy 鈥?This procedure involves making a lesion in the globus pallidus. That is, destroying some of the cells in a particular part of the brain that controlls movement. Pallidotomy has been found to reduce dyskenasias (involuntary movements) by 70%-90%.

    * Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) 鈥?Involves implanting a small metal electrode into the brain. The electrode is then attatched to a pulse generator which is stored implanted in the chest subcutaneously (under the skin). It is believed that while DBS does not cure Parkinson's Disease, it may diminish drug induced symptoms. A programming device can be used to adjust the pulse generator. This is all done wirelessly. At this stage, only the physician keeps the device which controls the intensity of stimulation. The patient is given a device which determines whether the pace maker is on or off.

    * Thalamic stimulation

    * Pallidal stimulation

    * Subthalamic DBSDoes anyone have any advice or info about Parkinson?

There was very recent news about a high blood pressure drug which has had success (not on humans yet), but my thinking is if its already licenced as a blood pressure drug, you may find an obliging doctor that will prescribe it on the off chance.

Other than that please visit the two sites below, one is New Scientist (do a search and when you have read the article check out the related pages to the right of the main text , sometimes there are other useful things there)

The other link is for 'what doctors don't tell you' some if it may well seem like quackery at the moment, but we used to think the earth was flat, all science starts somewhere. Much of it sounds credible, worth a good long read anyway.

Advice From Any Warcraft 3 TFT players about Human FFA?

I have started playing human FFA. I am no stranger to TFT and know many strategies. I just wanted to say that for FFA I think I have found I am really good. I would like to know if anyone has any advice for a rising human FFA player? I have a very open mind.Advice From Any Warcraft 3 TFT players about Human FFA?
It really depends on what races you are playing against but for starts if you don't no, get a few foots with defend along with rifflemen and some sorceriors. Later on you can upgrade the foots to nights

If your Enemies go heavy air get tanks and birds, if they go heavy melee get some griffians, if they go heavy AA focuson getting melee. If they are NE griffians and morts will pretty much destroy any NE (unless they go heavy birds jsut to counter you.

Morts are good to get on the side at least 1 or 2 if you can for the flare ability, this way you can scout your enemies to know what to build to counter them.Advice From Any Warcraft 3 TFT players about Human FFA?
I played against one player who had interesting strategy: he didn't train any tier1 units, instead of that he trained mortar teams,gyro-copterss and sorceressess. Of course, since you play as Human, lots of towers is a must.

OK---sooooo---what did you try that didn't work ?

A few details would have been helpful.

    Try this:

You would need to make Yahoo the default Mail.

    Click Tools%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;then click Internet Options.

In the dialog box that opens, click the ';programs'; tab across the top, and then, click the down arrow at the end of the Email line, and choose Yahoo Mail. Apply and OK.

If Yahoo DOESN'T appear on the list, as one of the choices-----**(it usually doesn't)**----you will have to download (or RE-download) Messenger---all of it----and that will put Yahoo on the list for a while.

Now, go back (tools-internet options-programs) and you will able to select Yahoo---apply and ok.

Later, you can remove Messenger---if you don't want it---without affecting the setting.

This is the time to not be bashful. Don't be embarassed, be confident. If you have something on your mind, like how beautiful she is or how you just can't stop thinking about her, say it. Hug her in public. Kiss her for no reason. Just don't hold back, and you'll probably be doing what she wants.
compliment her and say things about how pretty she is speak a poem out loud. Tell her she looks good. Tell her you won a trophy for best kisser then tell her you never kissed a girl in your life..

I need advice from a real MUM about girl stuff?

I really want to wear a thong but i am only thirteen. What should i do? How should i ask my mum. Would you be okay with you r daughter to be weraing one?? Help me pleaaseI need advice from a real MUM about girl stuff?
My first Q to you is, why? You are way too young.

But then, I will give her the freedom to do it, even though I do not accept her reasoning. I will say to myself, I was 13 once. This is how it is and I will let my daughter do it.

I jokingly call them a$s floss.I need advice from a real MUM about girl stuff?
If my daughter wanted to wear a thong, I would ask her why. It seems to me that thongs denote sexuality.

If she was upfrong and honest with me, I would probably let her wear one...but not when she was only 13; maybe 16.

The thong discussion could open the door for other, more intense discussions about sexuality; and I would rather have my daughter come to me to get advice/answers on those questions so that I can help her with life decisions and prevent a possible pregnancy before she is old enough to deal with a baby; or, worse, an STD

Btw, thongs go into your BUTT...ewwww!
    Hello Santas_Little_Helper,

I have to use my sons account because mine has gone wacko, but i feel that you should talk to your mum and how she finds it. but if you do not feel comfortable talking about it with your mum try one of your best friends. In my opinion i feel that 13 is a bit young maybe at around 15-16, when you are a bit more developed and are in highschool

    Sincerly, Josie

PS, Dont Let The World Keep You Down
I don't think there's anything wrong with it, just as long as you're not using it in improper ways. Thongs are functional to avoid panty lines which frankly draw more unwanted attention to your butt than not having any would! Thongs are ok but at your age do not pair them with superlowriders and belly shirts and try to be more...er...mature than you are!

  • I am really interested in psychology and am thinking about majoring in it any advice?

I was wondering if anyone, speaking from experience, has advice about majoring in psychology.I am really interested in psychology and am thinking about majoring in it any advice?
I majored in Social Work and minored in Psychology, currently work in the training/education field. If you are not sure on what you want to do with your degree in Psychology, I would suggest for you to go speak to your school counselor or do a search online for things like ';What can I do with a degree in...?'; There are a couple of links below to give you an idea of what fields you can go into with a degree in Psychology. For some, you may need to take additional courses in different areas, depending on what you would like to do. You may also need to get further education, especially if you decided to go into counseling.I am really interested in psychology and am thinking about majoring in it any advice?
I am only a high schooler, but i can still give you advice since my older brother is a psych major. Well to be honest with you, psychology is a really interesting subject of matter. If you plan to get into a well paying job and the psych field, you will have to get either a MA or Ph.D. Because its really hard to find a jub with a BA. Good luck!
I majored in Criminal Justice, but i know a lot of friends who majored in Psychology and graduate; and still don't have a job. Some of them had to go too grad school; just to find a decent job. If I were you I would major in that as a minor.
A bachelors in psychology is not enough to get a job as a social worker or school counselor, contrary to what trin wrote. A bachelors in social work is the more practical major that allows you to do something after graduation. To be a school counselor, you'd need a masters degree in education with a focus in counseling.

I double majored in psychology and secondary education. You basically have to do a double major in something else that gives you practical experience via field placements, speaking a foreign language (or sign language)... anything marketable. Psychology, alone, at the undergraduate level, can only get you entry level office jobs - if you're lucky. Even at the graduate level, the job market for all but clinical psychologists is really tough.
I majored in it, then switched.

The biggest thing I would suggest before majoring in psych is seriously thinking if you are willing to go four your Ph.D.

A bachelors in psychology will get you jobs as a social worker or school counselor.

A masters is a little better, but a Ph.D. is highly recommended for psych.

Also, take an intro to psych class your first semester of college. It gives a brief introduction to the different areas of psych. It will give you an idea if its something you would like to pursue and what area would interest you most.

Need advice about grooming a hyper maltipoo.?

my sister has this adorable one year old male malti poo. The only problem is he won't sit still for anything at the groomers!! Does anyone out there know any humane way to calm him down during the process? Thank you for your time. :) (his fur is driving my sister nuts cuz it's all messed up.......)Need advice about grooming a hyper maltipoo.?
Give him a nice long walk before going to the groomers.

Get a hair shaver (cheap just need the noise) and turn it on and practice the moves of grooming without actually doing it. When the dog is quiet, giving him a treat or love. It will teach the dog that these signs and actions are for being calm not excited.Need advice about grooming a hyper maltipoo.?
exercize him like crazy before grooming him.

Also train him to tolerate grooming.

Do short grooming sessions.. pick a time when he is calm, and work on grooming, praise him for sitting still.. one thing you can do is distract him with a treat while the other grooms him. As long as he's calm continue to praise and reward.. as soon as he starts to act ';fidgity';.. stop the grooming and rewards, set him down, and ignore him.

Even if you only get 10 seconds of brushing.. those few seconds of brushing and praise will gradually turn into longer sessions. Try working with him a few times a day on this.

He will learn to associate the grooming as something good, and attention... and learn that when he acts fussy and fidgity, he will be ignored.

    ADDED

DO NOT give your dog asprin!

Asprin will NOT calm the dog down! Asprin is a blood thinner and a pain killer. I personally would not use a blood thinner on a dog that is about the be groomed.. as there is a chance that the groomer may accidentally cut a nail too short, or nick the dog with the clippers.. accidents happen.. but a blood thinner will inhibit the clotting ability.. nails dont clot as quickly and easily as a regular cut anyways.. NO ASPRIN!
Hi --Don't know if I have the answer, but I do have to chuckle. I have a Maltipoo also. She is 8 months old and has been groomed several times. The first time I took her to the groomer I thought for sure it would never actually get done, as she never even sits still for me to brush her at home. But----to my surprise, at the groomers, she sat perfectly still and even gave the groomer kisses during the process. If I hadn't seen it, i would not have believed it! She was like a different dog. Sounds like you were not as fortunate. The only thing I can suggest that might work is to give her half of a baby aspirin. That should do no harm to your dog, but at the same time may calm him down enough to settle down for a haircut. Definitely need to get his fur cleaned up. Once the hair gets matted, it starts hurting the dog. Maybe try a different groomer? I don't know the secret, but it is important for the dog to get groomed. Try the baby aspirin thing, and if you have hesitations on the suggestion----call your vet and ask him if that would be ok. It should not be a problem. Good luck!
you need to exercise the dog every single day. the only reason why dogs act hyper like that is because they have a TON of energy and unfortunately us lazy humans often don't fill their needs. putting them out in the yard or taking them for a stroll up the driveway and back DOES NOT DO IT FOR THEM. put some skates on or get on your bike and run him by you for at least an hour a day. at the very least 1/2 hour. you will have a calm happy amazing dog after you do that.

    cheers

Been there, done that- same story- chiropractic saved me- nothing would work on my headaches, prescription pain killers just took the edge of a bit.Chiropractic saved me!!I had a car accident about 5yrs ago and still suffer wiv bad headaches any one got any gud advice pls?
ah that must be a post traumatic headache or post concusion headache. some tests may not show anything but if a good resolution cranial MRI will be done, maybe it will show the problem, but i don't think its necessary at all. Go to a neurologist if you want better treatment options. THEY KNOW BEST...
I can't say for sure but from being on the computer for the last 5 1/2 years and seeing all the info on forums etc. I have read many post where there has been someone who has been invold in a vehicle accident and is currently experiencing head pain from the accident. Most our now currently under a neurologist care. For that you would have to be referred to by your general doctor. You just need to check with your insurance to see what plan and who they cover and then ask your doctor out of those neuro's which one would s/he refer you to.

Then their are plenty who are getting help through their general practitioner too.

Either way, I do not want to diagnose you but there is always the possibility that you could be experiencing Migraines or neck/spine spasms which trigger migraines. Either way there are meds that can help you.

There are daily meds that you can take that help in keeping the head pain from happening. Then there is some meds that you can use to help when the pain starts that you take or inject to abort the pain.

Either way you really need to speak with someone on this.

Meanwhile go to the Topamax.com site and the Imitrex.com site and read up on those two meds. There are more. You can contact me and I can give you a couple migraine sites to read up on if you like.

You do need to speak with your doctor though. Even if nothing is found does not mean that you should not be on some kind of pain med.

    Take care now!

did you report it to the police at the time of the accident?have you kept all the records and documentation?.have you got a solicitor dealing with this case?.Were the doctors specialists? It could be blood vessel problems or there was damage and severe bruising that has left it,s mark.they will find the problem ,it just takes time, and may not happen until other symptoms occur.
    Learn how to drive properly......
well i am guessing you hit your head during this car accident, i sense that you might have a migrain problems? as thats how migrains work, i think you should go back to the doctors and just explain how painful the headaches actually are. or even go to hospital when you next have one and explain how much pain you are in, they might give you a head scan, this will sound horrible; but sometimes this is the way tumours begin.

good luck, i wish you all the best x
Tell your doctor that no matter what tests come back as negative you still feel this way so they should help you out and do something about it!

    Or see a different doc!
    first, see a Dr.

It is probably a neck issue but you need to be seen by medical professionals.
Here are some testimonials of people who also had a car accident in their later years..

Female, Age 56 years, Neck Pain, Headaches, Chronic Fatigue

    --------------------------------------鈥?br>

This 56-year-old female suffered from chronic neck pain, headaches, and fatigue for years. She thought the problems may have started sometime after an auto accident she experienced 14 years before. During the accident, she was hit head-on and totaled her car. The pain bothered her on and off for years-- sometimes on a daily basis and other times a month would go by without pain. She tried many practitioners such as massage therapists and chiropractors and received some relief but still the problem continued year after year. Finally, after struggling over a decade, she sought help from upper cervical chiropractic care.

During her upper cervical chiropractic exam, an upper neck injury was found, most likely stemming from her auto accident. Unfortunately the injury had never been addressed by any of her previous practitioners. After only 3 upper cervical adjustments, her neck injury was corrected. All neck pain, headaches, and fatigue healed and never returned.

Male, Age 34 years, Head Injury, Whiplash, Headaches, Sleep Disorder, Fatigue

    --------------------------------------鈥?br>

This 34-year-old male suffered a head injury during an auto accident in which he was rear-ended at 50mph. He described severe pain in his neck and back and headaches that originated at the base of his skull and spread to his left eye. His pain was so severe that it prevented him from sleeping, so he suffered from severe fatigue. To maintain some level of function during the day, he relied on multiple caffeinated beverages such as jolt or bull colas and/or coffee. At the time of his initial upper cervical chiropractic evaluation (14 months after the accident), he had been suffering with all of the above symptoms for over a year. He had sought help from numerous practitioners including physicians, neurologists, and therapists, to no avail. He reported receiving some temporary relief from Pilates.

During his evaluation, an upper cervical injury was discovered, which had likely been caused by his auto accident. After the first month of care, be began to notice less pain and a slightly better ability to sleep. By the third month of care, he was reporting a larger reduction in pain levels, which was enabling him to resume exercising. After six months, all pain was absent, normal sleep was resumed, and he was able to partcipate in all previous activities and sports, including working full-time.

    Male, Age 56 years, Headaches

    --------------------------------------鈥?br>

This 56-year-old male was rearended on the freeway at 60 mph. The impact rendered him unconscious and he awakened in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. At the hospital, some broken ribs and bruises were found but no other injuries were reported. Some mild headaches occurred several days after the accident and then temporarily went away. A couple of months later, the headaches returned and occurred daily. After visiting his family physician and neurologist who did not have any suggestions, he was referred for an upper cervical chiropractic evaluation.

At his initial evaluation, an upper neck injury was discovered that likely stemmed from the auto accident. During the first month of upper cervical care, the headaches diminished considerably. By the third month of care, all headaches were absent.

Male, Age 25 years, Post Auto-accident Neck Pain, Headaches, Numbness in Hands, Fatigue

    --------------------------------------鈥?br>

After an auto-accident last spring, this 25-year-old male experienced spinal pain, fatigue, restlessness, headaches, and numbness in his hands for the last 6 months. After the first adjustment, his symptoms improved substantially. One month later, he did not need to be adjusted again and all of his symptoms were completely gone. Eighteen months later, he had no return of symptoms.

    TESTIMONIAL

';I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Elster for her outstanding chiropractic care. I had been suffering for 6 months from chronic fatigue, restlessness, numbness of fingers and hands, neck pain, and headaches after a car accident. Upon referral from my girlfriend, I decided to set all skepticism aside and visit Dr. Elster's office. Even though Dr. Elster noted my skepticism right away, she continued to explain the possibilities available for me. I do have to admit that I did not believe that her care would help to relieve my numerous symptoms. After she explained the reasons for my discomfort through x-rays, experience, and acquired knowledge, I agreed to treatment. The treatment itself was comfortable and I could see positive results within a short period of time. The only thing I still don't believe about Dr. Elster's treatment is that all of my symptoms had nearly disappeared within one week -- after only ONE adjustment! My only regret is that I did not seek Dr. Elster's help sooner. I would highly recommend her services to anyone. Thank you very much, Dr. Elster!'; Dennis, age 25, December '97

Female, Age 16 years, Post Auto-Accident Spinal Pain, Headaches

    --------------------------------------鈥?br>

This 16-year-old female was a high school track star until an auto accident last spring. Following the accident, she experienced neck pain, low back pain, and headaches. The pain hindered her performance in track. In addition, her performance in school was affected-- her grades dropped and she had trouble concentrating in school.

Within a week of care, her pain disappeared and she began running track better, winning races, and eventually won her team's most improved award. Her ability to concentrate in school also came back up and so did her grades.
you must put your head down and your foot up its a way of circulation of blood in my country its call (pied coco) or you can take pills like syndol
My mom had the same symptoms after a car wreck. It finally got to the point where she was blacking out from the headaches. They ended up finding out that she had an excess buildup of spinal fluid. I'm not sure how it was treated, or if they determined that the car accident 5 years earlier caused it, but sounds like a similiar situation.
try some homeopathic remedies..... Acupuncture or I like to meditate always helps... trust me try it what have you got to lose!
