As a freshman (Class of 2009), I know what it's like to enter in a new school recently. At my high school (Bakersfield Christian High School, Bakersfield, CA), I learned three things this year: 1) get to know people because the people you may hang out with might be famous one day [a.k.a. make yourself available], 2) manage your time wisely; don't procrastinate or the homework today will nip you in the butt tomorrow %26amp; 3) get active in school activites. Don't be a loner that's againist the world. Participate in activities that you love, may it be sports, drama, music, etc. Just go out there and give it your all, because you only have 4 years to make a name for yourself...Any advice to someone about to enter high school?
Keep your grade point average up there so you can qualify for scholarships for college.
Do your homework.
Be active in sports and/or school politics.
Have fun.
Florida Girl...
My best advice would be to think for yourself. Don't allow your friends (or the guys you encounter) to tell you what is best for you. High school is one moment in your life, albeit an important one, but remember, you have many many more tomorrows ahead of you. Don't ruin your tomorrows for a tiny small amount of trouble ';today';. Study hard, an apply yourself. You're building the foundation of your life... Take care.
be yourself, dont let anybody change you...im gonna be a junior next year %26amp; i had to find that out the hard way...plus its too much work frontin' about who you really are...if the people u hang out w/ dont respect u for you, forget them %26amp; find people who do
Same workload.....you probably will meet a lot more friends and may lose some of your current one because of different interests. It will be somewhat fustrating trying to adjust to the new environment but eventually, u'll get used to it and will be fine.
I'd take a visit to your local high school, before admission and being enrolled. I'd join a group there or some of their activities, before the school year starts.
study...study...study
yeah stay away from drugs and booze, that comes in all crowds whether its the preps, or gangs or band , or the drama type groups. just study and hang around the smart ones. the dumb ones will just bring you down
has been a long time since high school, but i guess the best thing to do is try to fit in, even if its not you, or you can have your life made hell, University is the time to be 'weird' lol, seriously when if you don't find you fit in school, you will in uni, people are much more diverse.
About homework, do it right away, the longer you put it off the harder it gets, and again work hard in school, have fun in university, uni is a total walk in the park (although i am much older than most)
STUDIES...Unlike middle school, your HS grades follow you the rest of your life. They matter in trying to get into a good college. Bottom line: take your studies seriously. Don't blow it off like some of the ';cool'; kinds do. Get A's if you can. And learn basic science, math and English skills.
FRIENDS...Make QUALITY friendships with well-rounded success-oriented kids. Not the losers. Later in life, you'll be glad you knew these people and want to stay in touch. Have a good time, but BE YOURSELF. Don't pay attention to peer pressure to conform to what they think ';cool'; is.
OTHER...If possible, participate in a team sport...to gain team and social skills, and to build character. Participate in civic activities. Show leadership by volunteering to head up various activities. It will be great experience and this stuff counts when colleges decide to admit you.
JOB...Always a good thing...can you use the extra money? More important, there are basic ';show up for work'; skills that you'll learn.
Good luck...and enjoy every minute of it!
be yourself. and respect yourself. don't do anything that you wouldn't approve of, just to fit in. there will people you get along with and others you can't stand. take things/people in stride. and study every night if you don't it will very easy to get behind.
Pay attention. Stay off drugs and crap like that. Go everyday.
Keep up with your school work.because if you dont its hard to catch back up.Have fun and keep it real
Just keep doing what you've been doing. Don't take high school for granted. Everything will work itself out. Your teachers and stuff try to scare you and act like it's a lot different but it's not.
Do your homework and don't slack off!
Be friendly and also make friends with teachers.
Stick up for yourself and don't care what other people think, cause you're never gonna see them after high school!
Good luck because high school isn't as bad as it seems!
It's not so bad really. There's a lot more freedom. More friends to choose from. High school will be the best years of your life if you let it so make the most of it. Have as much fun as you can. Keep a diary because you'll want to hang on to the memories always. Oh but there's a lot of home work so I'd take as many classes as I could early so there will be more fun your junior and senior years. The proms are the best. Have a good time.
have fun, and study your butt off
do lots of studies and less of guys :D
be yourself and do everything that u want to do dont care what other people think about you and enjoy
Pretty much just enjoy. It will go fast so keep yourself around good people. Sports and activities always liven the experience. Sure, there will be parties happenin around you, just be cool and safe.
well dont wear something ugly on the first day of school...put like...a short skirt on or something....and dont ask a senior or a junior ';the way to your next class'; if u need help that bad.....go ask a teacher....o0oh and dont walk by yourself in the hallway.....walk with a friend or someone you know..
DO Your Homework! it helps trust me. Friends, find the ones that you know have your back. I have lost soo many friends over the years its crazy! Do stay true to yourself. You are the only you, and dont let anyone morph you into something that you are not.
find girls that dont have a slutty rep. and dont do drugs. study.
and stay away from guys. dont do anything you'll regret.
