I want to move to South Carolina from Wisconsin to be with the girlfriend of almost 3 years. We may or may not live together. Just wondering how much a month I would need to live half way comfortably before I can get both my feet on the ground? Just in general what does it take to live on your own, I know you need insurances and have to pay the bills and food. If anyone has first hand expierience as to what it takes to be out by your lonesome that'd be great thanks.Anyone have advice about moving out of state?
Check out Rent.com for the area that you are thinking about, or the classifies on line.
Figure the rent, air, heat, phone, trash pick up (if not included)
car insurance (for the area call a local agency or ask if your current one could carry over there),figure at least 100.00 a week for food and add more if you intend to eat out, money for gas figure another 30.00 a week or more, and have job in place before move, and figure to have at least 6+ months rent with you before you go.
Having at least 6 months rent in the bank will give you padding while you are waiting for your first pay check and so on/
Best wishesAnyone have advice about moving out of state?
Any rental will require a month security so that and the first month's rent will be a big expense. Setting up utilities will take deposits---more money. Do you have a job there in your new town? Food will always be a big chunk. I would say you shouldn't move until you can hit town with 5 thousand . That should get the home started and give you some money to look for a job. DO NOT go with the idea of living with someone. Her invite may be because she can't pay the rent. You get there and spend all your money paying her back bills---and you think you are just being nice. Do not fall into that trap. She may skip out and leave you holding more than you can afford. Stay home and find a nice local girl, good luck
