How did it go? Were the predictions of doom and mayhem fulfilled? Or were you praised to the skies for your talent and charm? Do tell. I'm sure we'd all value your feedback. For all of you who have asked for advice about your first wedding photography job recently.....?
Not having a lot of experience, I knew I couldn't charge as much as a professional photopgrapher, so I only charged 200 dollars.
The day of the wedding was a beautiful day, the sun was out and at high noon when the light is best for photography, I took 600 pictures as the groom walked the plank.
I used my trusty on camera flash so that I didn't have to carry all sorts of heavy equipment.
After the wedding I took my pictures home and burned them onto a disk. I was able to put them all onto one disk as I shot in jpeg.
I drove the disk over to clients trailer a week later and gave it to them. I handed them the disk and they immediatley hooked it up to a computer. They started looking at the pictures.
You should of seen the look in their eyes. It must of brougt back all sorts of memories because of the odd shapes their faces were making, the mother actually started to cry. I mean gee wiz it's just a wedding it's not like somebody died, but ohh well, people are funny like that.
They all decided to have a little conference and asked me to wait outside, I figure they needed a little time to figure out how much to tip me on top of the base amount. About an hour later they still hadn't come back to tell me how much so I went on home. It must be real hard figuring out tip money. I figure they will just send me a check when they are good and ready.
That was 3 weeks ago and I still haven't received a check, so I'm a little worried now that they can't makeup their mind. For all of you who have asked for advice about your first wedding photography job recently.....?
i found the two years at phogoraohy school didnt help me at all, i kept looking for the darkroom but couldnt find it,
my uncle bubbas first few weddings have gone really well, he took the money, handed over a CD, moved town and changed his numbers
PS: dont be surprised if a few bitter fools send you rude emails, i asked these sort of questions (in a more twisted way) and got lots of love emails from new dslr owners and virgin wedding shooters (could be virgins on two counts not sure)
Good question!..
Obviously the start of Spring/Summer has meant that more weddings are taking place and there has obviously been a lot of questions asked here (some are scarily bad ';I have a Nikon D40 with kit lens, I am booked for a wedding this weekend, any tips?';..*Shudder*...)
Far be it from us to ';Predict doom and gloom';, we are simply trying to help and even save the poor soul from getting sued. We are not always going to be right in our predictions, some may do quite well..
I too would like some feedback, if it means rubbing our noses in it then that is fine by me!.. I will be very relieved that somebody's wedding day has not been completely ruined.
.
Good luck trying to get an answer to this question. Half of them took midnight flights to countries with no extradition treaties. The other half took to remote log cabins with no electricity in Idaho. Expect to see lots of posts titled ';Are these any good?'; featuring Idaho landscapes and Venezuelan oil derricks.
I thought it was a bad idea but I did it anyways.
Took about 250 shots with all three of my better lenses, everything was shot in the little green box mode and went home to edit them.
OOPS, forgot to load the memory card.
Oh well, they weren't that close of friends.
LOL! Great question! But I seriously doubt anyone is going to admit their folly to us...
But hey, like you say, bring it! If you blew someone away despite all odds, I'd be very interested to hear about it.
';Anyone? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? Anyone? Beuller? Beuller?...';
haha - do you seriously think anyone will come on here and say ';yes guys you were all correct. I totally fuc@@@ up and the brides mother chased me around with a meat cleaver.
Probably one of the best questions I have seen on here in a long time. Too bad it will probably not get any real answers. Some good humorous ones though.
