im new to leopard geckos and i look forward to getting one and i would like to see what you guys can come up with for advice just for my leopard gecko's health!Does anyone have any advice they would like to share with me about leopard geckos?
Get a 20 gallon long tank. Do not use sand or other loose substrate (non-adhesive shelf liner works great). You need an under the tank heater--they are nocturnal and do not need overhead lighting or heat. A digital probe thermometer to measure the surface temp. Three hides....one on the cool side, one on the warm side, and a humid hide on the warm side. Feed crickets and mealworms no larger than the space between his eyes. As babies feed as many gutloaded insects it wants per day. Feed at night which is more natural. Have a cup of calcium powder and a bowl of water in the tank. Dust the insects with the calcium powder 4 times a week and multivitamin powder once a week.
It is an old wives tale that you have to cut the heads off of mealworms because they can chew their way out of the stomach...not true at all!!

well after it sheds don't push it it takes a few days for it to eat again and it might not eat at first
Hi, I would recommend if your going to feed meal worms to chop off the heads. If you choose not to the meal worms can eat through the lining of your reptiles stomach lining. :) Sometimes, you can even see your lizard jerk with pain. :( It's not pretty.
Also, depending on age make sure you get the RIGHT size crickets..
Good Luck!
