my 2 month old puppy constantly barks when i put him out, i know he is young so what is a good way to start training him to quiet down while he is out there, also what is a good way to start house breaking, i keep a close eye on him and catch him in the act all the time and put him outside but he is still persistent and will hide behind furniture so i take him outside for about 20 min but as soon as we come back he messesI need some puppy advice about barking and housebreaking
There are a few things that you should do to help your puppy learn to stop barking and peeing in the house. When it is barking, pick it up and say no. If this does not work, try again with a stern, loud, and sudden ';Shhh!'; This should work, if not, do not yell, just continue with the previous methods. You should succeed. For housebreaking your puppy, take it out for very frequent walks. Fifteen minutes after breakfast, lunch, and dinner for your dog, take it for a walk. After that take your dog for a walk every fifteen minutes to a half hour. Slowly work your way up to once an hour, once every two hours, etc. You should still walk your dog shortly after meals. If you catch the dog using the floor as a bathroom. Say, ';No! Do that outside!'; and do that every time. Tell your dog ';Good dog, outside!'; whenever you are walking it and it uses the bathroom outdoors. After your dog uses the bathroom on the floor you need to clean it up and cover up the scent with cleaning supplies. If the dog walks by and smells pee and feces, it will register in its head, I can go to the bathroom here. I hope this helps!I need some puppy advice about barking and housebreaking
i have a puppy that is almost 2 we got him when he was 7 weeks so since puppys bladder are very sensitive we had him drink a bunch of water and then took him outside and then he would pee after the 1st or second time doing that he learned to go to the back door as for the barking we would make sure that we went to the door on the 1st bark so every t ime he knew he only had to bark once....hope i helped. o ya if they pee in t he house ur sposed to take him ovr to the pee( he wont wanna go) and then put his nose really close to the pee but not in it and tell him no bad dog in a growly voice
You should walk your dog everyday in the morning, for a 10-20 min. walk then every half hour in the afternoon then another 10-20 min. walk every evening to help him with his housebreaking.
and for the barking, make a funny little noise he's never heard before and it will distract him from barking.
Hope this helps.
Here's a great article on Housebreaking. It is written for Labs but can be used for any dog breed: http://www.8pawsup.com/articles/training鈥?/a>
I'm not sure about the housebreaking, but they have this collar that gives a small shock when the dog barks.
