I need legal advice about car title?

So today my boyfriend traded his car with another person, he went through all the motions of looking at a car (test drove, looked under the hood, etc..).

Well then on the way home probably 5 minutes after leaving the location with the car and about 5 miles down the interstate, the engine blew up.

My question is they signed the title as is, is there anyway he could get the old car back or take any action against the other seller?I need legal advice about car title?
Nope. If your boyfriend 'the mechanic' couldn't tell that there was something wrong with it when he 'went through the motions of looking at a car', then what makes you think the previous owner knew something was wrong? When you sign something 'as is' that means that you're taking the car, damages %26amp; all. Tell your boyfriend 'the mechanic' to be more careful next time he purchases a car from someone he knows.I need legal advice about car title?
Please inform us of the name and business address of your boyfriend. He is the WORST mechanic on the planet. I don't claim to be competent as a mechanic, but I couldn't miss a problem bad enough to cause the engine to BLOW UP that quickly.

ALL private party sales are AS IS, unless specifically stated otherwise in writing. The only thing the seller promised is that the had the legal right to sell the car. They did not promise is was fit to be called a car.

They signed title? Sorry. No recourse.

He should have done a bit more than ';going through the motions,'; like taking it to a mechanic.
Title transferred? A for sale as is signed? Uhhh, probably not!
Nope
