From my experience go anywhere but sydney.
it is dirty, full of gangs, arrogant people, it is a toilet.
rest of australia is beautiful.
GOOD LUCKI need advice about moving to Australia.?
The ';short answer'; advice for you, don't move to Australia.
Visiting Australia is advised, but moving there for 12-24 months requires you to get a work permit (difficult, but depends a lot on your skills) and taking a dog would involve having the dog quarantined for an extended period of time (e.g., several weeks). It would be easier, cheaper and, likely, more effective to look for a ';new life'; in the USA. Lots of other people would and do ';vote with their feet'; to move to the USA to have the opportunity for a new life.
Bringing a dog into the country can be hard (and expensive). Also, getting rental accommodation with a pet is also difficult.
The best way to find jobs etc depends on where in the country you want to live. I am in Sydney, so use the Sydney Morning Herald site 'Domain' to find places to live, but in other areas, different sites are more popular. Depending on your college degree, it may or may not be easy to find a job - we are in the middle of a recession and changing jobs now could be difficult.
Good luck
and i would add to the list above (my favorite is seek.com.au)
realestate.com.au for apartment finding, go to google earth to take a general look at train stations and city centers (its pretty clear), then choose ur location and find out about pricing
you can choose the city by getting feedback around the internet, sydney is the most famous and then comes melbourn, sydney has beaches and hot summers, melbourn has got style and mild weather, work wise? you can find work anywhere on earth, (even in switzerland) thats a reality, so dont let anyone bog u down about it
its always a good move to move, no matter where ur going, change can never be bad, u just have to be smart enough to change again if the first change didnt do it ;)
